Creative Arts Therapy Week Istanbul 2026 - Bonding in Contours - a Group VR Drawing Experience
This workshop blends elements of dance therapy, art therapy, and VR technology in a session for four small groups, using movement and 3D drawing in space. Led by Loredana Larionescu & Konrad Mihat
Throughout the workshop, participants will be invited to explore how they view their partners using Open Brush (an open-source VR drawing app) and elements of Marcia Plevin’s Transformational Body Tracing technique.
The group will go through a playful process of moving with their partners, stop-framing as a symbolic “sculptural ensemble,” then taking turns to wear a VR headset to draw body contours and add graphic elements according to each one’s own felt experience, creating throughout the session a group statue as perceived from the inside—a 3D drawing expressing each participant’s perception of the other people and the group relationships.
This process invites participants to expressively engage with the theme of “Belonging and Trust”, while learning and deepening their knowledge of a novel visual and technological tool.
